If ASUS ExpertBook B9 (B9450) reminds you of some recent notebooks from the same company, make no mistake because in reality it is simply a renamed ASUSPro B9. We don’t know what the reasons behind renaming are – perhaps to standardize the brand or make it easier to remember – but from a technical and aesthetic point of view the two machines are the same. We then took advantage of the presentation at CES 2020 in Las Vegas to study it closely, analyze its hardware specifications and design details, but the two models have no difference. So the new ASUS ExpertBook B9 (B9450) is the old ASUSPro B9 (B9450).

However, it is worth refreshing your memory a bit with an overview of the data sheet. ASUS ExpertBook B9 is based on 10th generation Intel Core (Comet Lake) processors – also in vPro version – to choose between a quad-core Core i5-10210U at 1.6GHz or quad-core Core i7-10510U at 1.8 GHz with Intel graphics UHD 620, up to 8 / 16GB of soldered 2133MHz LPDDR3 RAM and two slots for M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD up to 4TB (2 x 2TB).

ExpertBook B9450 is a formidable notebook designed to meet the high demands of professionals working on the move. Designed for business use, this 14-inch notebook is the lightest in the world, because it weighs only 870 grams with a reduced thickness of only 14.8 mm. The anti-glare IPS screen has Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), brightness of 300cd / m², 100% sRGB color coverage and very thin NanoEdge edges on four sides (up to 4 mm) for a screen-to-body ratio of 94 %.

ASUS ExpertBook B9 (B9450) includes a 33Wh battery that should guarantee up to 12 hours of autonomy, but alternatively you can opt for a larger battery (66Wh) that seems to work for 24 consecutive hours. Both support fast charging (60% in just 39 minutes).

Despite its highly manageable and super-thin design, the magnesium alloy chassis exceeds the US military standard MIL-STD 810G for proven quality and integrates the typical ErgoLift hinge that raises the keyboard surface when opening the lid improving the dissipation of the hot air and ergonomics while typing. Certified “Project Athena”, ExpertBook B9 has a good set of interfaces: WiFi 802.11ax (WiFi 6) and Bluetooth 4.2 (2×2, but why not Bluetooth 5.0?), An HDMI, a 3.5 mm combo audio jack, a port USB 3.1 Gen2, one micro-RJ45 (Ethernet) but above all two Thunderbolt 3 / USB 3.1 Type-C (Gen2).

There are also two 2W Harman Kardon speakers, a backlit chiclet keyboard accompanied by a NumPad 2.0 (to use the touchpad as a numeric keypad), the TPM 2.0 security chip, a fingerprint reader and an infrared webcam for authentication via facial recognition through Windows Hello. We point out that the camera is equipped with an anti-privacy shutter to protect itself from prying eyes.

ExpertBook B9450 is the perfect solution for professionals who need a powerful notebook and the latest technology to carry out their activities. It will be available in Europe (and we also assume in Italy) starting from March at the price of 1849 euros
