We are in the midst of the launch of new laptops. The arrival of the Intel 9th generation processors and the new RTX graphics has caused manufacturers to rush to update their equipment. And since ASUS is one of the most important manufacturers in the gaming world, it is renewing its entire range of laptops with the new hardware. Today we have seen the ASUS ROG Strix G, an affordable gaming notebook with a 9th generation Intel Core processor and the new Nvidia graphics.
As usual, the ASUS ROG Strix G will come in multiple hardware configurations. Among the most outstanding features are screens of up to 144 Hz, a new intelligent cooling system, a keyboard with RGB lighting or good connectivity. It will be on sale soon with a price that will start from 1,100 euros. Let’s get to know their characteristics better.
ASUS ROG has in its catalog of portable gaming models for all types of audiences. The Zephyrus range covers users looking for an ultra-thin computer, the ROG Mothership and G703 are designed to replace desktop computers and the SCAR III and Hero III are dedicated to eSports professionals with high budgets. So the new ASUS ROG Strix G have been created to offer a more affordable option without giving up good hardware.
In addition, despite being portable gaming, they have a much more discreet design to be able to use them both at work and during game sessions. The Strix G combines elements of ROG design with an elegant and more restrained style. The central part of the laptop includes additional vents that extend through the back and the right side. On the other hand, the scissor hinges move forward in order to facilitate rear ventilation and, when closing the equipment, they disappear to avoid possible damage.
The exterior finish looks nice brushed that cuts the top diagonally with fine lines textures. This pattern accentuates an asymmetric trimming between the hinges that facilitates an uninterrupted airflow through the additional vents. Lifting the lid reveals similar items around the keyboard and wrist rest.
But as the gaming essence should not be lost, ASUS has included an RGB lighting system implemented through a light bar that wraps around the front edge and sides of the notebook. This emits a soft glow on the surrounding surface, although we should know that it is optional.
The keyboard also has LED lighting to improve the visibility of night sessions. In addition, the group of WASD keys is transparent, clearly differentiating itself from the rest. On the other hand, the 17.3-inch versions include a numerical section dedicated to the right of the keyboard. On 15.6-inch models they are integrated into the touch panel, which lights up when you press Num Lock.
A POWERFUL HARDWARE TO PLAY WITH GUARANTEES
Beyond the design, a portable gaming must offer good performance. The ASUS ROG Strix G features the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics. The highest configuration of the Strix G comes with a GeForce RTX 2070 GPU that reaches up to 1440 MHz (115 W) of ROG Boost frequency.
To take advantage of this power, the new ROG laptops have screens of 144 Hz. These can be 15.6 or 17.3 inches, depending on the model we choose. In both cases surrounding the screen we will have an ultra-thin frame that increases the feeling of immersion in the games. Shrinking the frame also reduces the overall size of the computer.
In addition to the latest Nvidia graphics, the ASUS ROG Strix G is equipped with up to an Intel Core i7-9750H 9th Gen. This new CPU can achieve Turbo speeds of up to 4 GHz and has six cores and 12 threads.
The new Intel chips are combined with up to 32 GB of dual-channel memory and storage M.2 SSD NVMe. In addition, they have a 2.5-inch bay that can include a standard 1 TB hard drive or an SSHD with a built-in flash-based cache that speeds up access to the most-used data.
