Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 could be the smartphone that the South Korean giant will use for the debut of the front camera hidden under the screen. The local financial newspaper ETNews is convinced of this, citing anonymous sources in the sector: it says that the panel needed for this technology, simply called UDC (Under-Display Camera), would be under development by Samsung Display itself, while the camera module System LSI, a division of Samsung Electronics, will make it. In short, all homemade.
As we have seen previously, it is believed that next year Samsung will adopt a two-brand strategy for its top range: there will be the Galaxy S, classic smartphones, and the Galaxy Z, a brand that includes all types of folds made so far ( Fold and Flip). Goodbye to the Note range, which will be integrated into the S family – the differences between the two products are now very small, practically only the S Pen remains. Fold 3 is expected to be released around the second / third quarter of the year, so exactly when the next generation Notes are usually presented.
Many manufacturers are studying how to hide the camera behind the display, thus definitively putting an end to compromise solutions such as notches and holes in the display. In fact, ZTE has already placed on the market a smartphone with this technology: it is the Axon 20 5G. We expect that in the coming months the products with this characteristic will multiply – at least in the most prestigious segment of the market.
