Thousands of accidents occur on our roads every year, most often ending in a guilt contest after lawsuits that last for years, unless the driver proves that he did not cause the accident. With this in mind, to offer the authorities an additional evaluation tool, at CES 2020 in Las Vegas, Garmin announced the new Dash Cam Tandem: the first Garmin mini “video camera” that deals with user safety, inside and outside the car interior.

The new device has a front camera that, with a 180 ° shooting angle, records, thanks to Garmin Clarity HDR technology, high definition movies of what happens on the road. But the great novelty of the Tandem Dash Cam is represented by the inward facing camera which has an HD resolution (720p) and allows shooting even in low light conditions thanks to the exclusive NightGlo technology. With the new internal camera it is possible to identify the details of the faces of drivers and passengers, even if they are on the rear seats, a useful function for taxi drivers and vehicles with driver in the event of possible attacks or vandalism.

In addition, in the new Tandem Dash Cam, it is possible to activate the video surveillance function that monitors the vehicle even when the car is parked, recording any tampering attempts (separate purchase of a cable is required to activate this function).

Garmin Dash Cam Tandem is a high definition recording device that is easy to use and install. The new Garmin instrumentation is capable of capturing photos, videos and audio: once installed on the windshield and connected to a power source via the USB cable, Garmin Dash Cam Tandem records videos in continuous loop on a micro-SD card (included in the packaging) and overwriting the data collected once it has exhausted its storage capacity.

Among the numerous assistance functions for motorists, the new DashCam Tandem integrates the possibility to save, start or stop the recording of videos with the convenient help of the voice command without having to use your hands. Furthermore, by synchronizing his Tandem Dash Cam with the Garmin Drive app downloadable on smartphone, the driver can view the recordings of what is happening around and inside the car directly on the phone display.

Finally, the new Garmin Dash Cam Tandem incorporates a GPS sensor and Galileo, so that it is possible to easily identify the place where an event occurred, and an automatic incident detection sensor, which allows the device to automatically archive the previous and rear minutes at an event. The Garmin Dash Cam Tandem is available for 349.99 euros
