The partnerships between the hi-tech world and that of cars / motorcycles is nothing new. We know that Porsche Design signs a series of Huawei smartphones and that McLaren has granted colors and materials of its supercars to some OnePlus smartphones, but in the past we can also list Acer and Ferrari or ASUS and Lamborghini which, however, has more recently linked to OPPO.

Lenovo Ducati 5 is just the latest example. It was born from the collaboration between the Chinese company and the well-known Italian motorcycle manufacturer, combining the style and speed of a brand superbike in a notebook for true MotoGP fans. The laptop will be distributed in a limited edition, with only 12,000 units available, but will have a “reasonable” price to say the least for such an exclusive machine. We had the chance to see it live at CES 2020 in Las Vegas and it will be marketed in Europe starting from April for only € 899.

According to what Lenovo communicated, the Ducati 5 design is inspired by the Ducati Panigale with hexagonal honeycomb ventilation grids (a typical motif of the Ducati Monster series), the BIOS has a MotoGP theme with extra wallpapers dedicated to the world of motorcycles and in the package there will also be a notebook case signed by the brand. The Ducati logo stands out on the cover of the notebook, but it is also present “more discreetly” inside on the hinges with the double red band.

From the hardware point of view, Lenovo Ducati 5 integrates a 14-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) IPS display with 300 nits brightness, 45% NTSC color coverage and ultra-thin bezels (4.3 mm on the sides, 7 mm on the upper edge and 10mm on the bottom), but is based on a 1.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i5-1035G1 (Ice Lake) processor with Intel UHD 620 graphics, 8GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 1TB of storage on PCIe M.2 SSD NVMe. Connectivity is well represented by two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, a USB 3.1 Type-C (Gen1), audio combo jack, an HDMI 1.4b and an SD card reader, as well as 802.11ax WiFi (WiFi 6) and Bluetooth 5.1, while the estimated autonomy should reach 12 hours.
