Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is a new ultrabook built in carbon fiber and magnesium alloy, all white, with Intel Tiger Lake processor and 13.3-inch QHD display. Despite its name, it is not a convertible.

After a few weeks of rumors and a promotional video that escaped online, Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon was officially launched in some selected markets. We do not yet know if it will be marketed in Europe (and specifically in Italy), but we can already anticipate that the Chinese company has excluded (for now) the distribution in North America, confirming the availability only in Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand and Vietnam starting this month.

As expected, the new Yoga Slim 7i Carbon stands out primarily for its design. According to what was communicated by Lenovo, the frame of this ultrabook is made “in the lightest carbon fiber ever made + 25% more resistant” for less flexibility of the screen, while the palm rest and bottom are made of magnesium alloy. It is sold in a white “Moon White” color with an anti-fingerprint and anti-yellowing treatment that will preserve it from the signs of aging. And that’s not all, because Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is MIL-STD-810G certified, so it’s resistant to dust and drops from small heights (76cm), such as a table.

Turning to the hardware equipment, the Lenovo notebook is equipped with a 13.3-inch QHD display (2560 x 1600 pixels) in 16:10, with brightness of 300 nits, color coverage of 100% sRGB and bezels so thin as to reach a screen ratio -to-body by 91%. Despite the name “Yoga”, Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is not a convertible since the hinge that holds the screen can rotate up to 180 degrees (and not 360 degrees like in 2-in-1s).

Weighing less than a kilogram and 13.9 mm thick (which becomes 14.9 at the thickest point), Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is equipped with an Intel Tiger Lake processor (up to Core i7) with Intel Iris Xe graphics, up to 16GB of dual-channel LPDDR4X RAM and up to 1TB of PCIe M.2 SSD space. Considering the thickness, however, there is not much space for the interfaces, so much so that the ultrabook is equipped with only a 3.5 mm audio jack and three USB Type-C ports (two of which Thunderbolt 4), which can be used both to recharge the notebook , either to connect external displays or other peripherals.

The data sheet ends with a 50Wh battery capable of ensuring “one day of autonomy” accompanied by a 65W power supply, two Harman Kardon stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos audio, WiFi 6 and and Bluetooth 5.0. The Yoga Slim 7i Carbon notebook also has a backlit keyboard, an IR camera with support for facial recognition via Windows Hello and dual microphones to call up digital assistance, such as Cortana or Alexa
