Apple has updated its Mac Mini with the new Apple M1 processor, which promises a significant performance boost over Intel-based versions. Already in pre-order in Italy (also on Amazon) starting from 819 euros.
Apple’s Mac Minis have lived through a difficult decade because, despite being Mini PCs loved by a good slice of the market, the Cupertino company has offered updates with low frequency so that after the first generation we had to wait four years (in the 2014) for a new model. During the “One More Thing” event, however, Apple has announced a major upgrade for its Mac Mini line and obviously plans to introduce its new processor.
The new Mac Mini 2020 is the first (compact) desktop computer based on the Apple M1 SoC and – according to reports from Cupertino – we should expect a significant increase in performance in the face of a small cut in price. The new Mac Mini, in fact, is available in Italy in two configurations with shipments starting from November 17th: 819 euros for the SKU with Apple M1 and 256GB SSD and 1049 euros for the SKU with Apple M1 and 512GB SSD. Apple adds that the migration from Intel Core processors to the new ARM-based Apple M1 chip will also ensure greater speed (up to 3x faster) in computing power, up to 6x faster graphics processing and up to 15x machine leaning. times faster.
The new model also features Thunderbolt 3 / USB 4 ports with support for data transfer speeds of up to 40Gb / s and an HDMI 2.0 port, to connect up to two external displays (one 6K and one 4K) simultaneously, two USB ports 3.1 Type-A Gen2, one 3.5mm audio jack, one Gigabit Ethernet, as well as WiFi 6 and Bluetooth.
Apple Mac Mini measures 19.5 x 19.5 x 3.5cm and weighs 1.17Kg. Inside there is also a small fan to take care of cooling the internal components and dissipating the heat produced more easily, during particularly heavy operations such as gaming, graphic editing and coding.
