Nikon D6

Nikon D6 had already been announced in September of last year, showing the full power of the most advanced and avant-garde SLR ever designed by the Japanese manufacturer. Now, after five months, we finally know the technical characteristics and the price at which it is offered on the market. Nikon D6 will be officially available for purchase starting this spring.

Needless to dwell on what are the best conditions in which to use this DSLR: all, in simple terms. Sports or panoramas, close-ups or images taken in low light doesn’t matter. A nice step forward compared to the D5 which was launched in January 2016, with 105 cross sensors all selectable with coverage at a higher density of 1.6x compared to the previous model.

Fast AF and built-in connections for fast “real-time” image transfer are two key elements available to the most demanding photographer. As Nikon herself points out, from this point of view the D6 “defines the industry standards”.

Nikon insists on the strengths of its top-of-the-range DSLR: of course, the AF with 105 sensors allows you to obtain unprecedented tracking and an extremely precise scene recognition system, but other aspects such as

shutter speed in sequence up to 14fps
20.8MP full-frame CMOS sensor with an EXPEED 6 image processing processor
WiFi5, Bluetooth and integrated GPS connections
0.72x optical viewfinder
All with a simplified workflow to select and transfer images and improved ergonomics. Nikon D6 has a particularly robust camera body, thanks to which there must be no fear in using it even in extreme conditions.

The Italian site did not disclose the price of the new SLR: pending an update, let’s rely on the US market:

availability: April 2020
price: $ 6,499.95 (body only)
