OnePlus 8 Pro

OnePlus 8 Pro shows itself in an alleged real photo. The shot, which first appeared on a Discord chat and then on Twitter, portrays the back of a gray device, with a triple traffic light cam, and an applied tissue that reads 5G and mentions dual SIM support.

Too little not to think it’s just a OnePlus 7 Pro, right? But no: the renders that we have already shown you represented the back of OnePlus 8 Pro exactly like this, including a detail that we have not yet examined, and which on 7 Pro is missing. And that is those two elements (a circular sensor and a kind of slit) visible to the left of the photographic module.

On the left, the alleged real photo of OnePlus 8 Pro. On the right, a rendering of the device: the details of the back, as you can see, coincide.
We then went back to talking about the presentation of the entire range, (that is, as well as the Pro also of One Plus 8, and the unpublished Lite version) which should be held at the end of March: in these hours there are persistent rumors about the fact that however, it will be an exclusively online event.

9TO5Google colleagues had reported the news by correlating it with the emergency related to the coronavirus COVID-19, which as you know has already caused the cancellation of two important fairs such as the MWC in Barcelona (we have deepened the story in our special) and the Beijing Auto Show, and GDC is already at risk too, with Sony announcing its withdrawal from the event.

OnePlus, however, intervened and promptly replied, specifying that there is no correlation between the possibility of holding an online launch event instead of a physical one and the coronavirus, as the company has organized both public and exclusively streaming events in the past.

One of the last launches, that of OnePlus 7 Pro, took place simultaneously in London, New York, Bangalore and Beijing, but for example OnePlus 2 had been shown for the first time via a VR livestream, while more recently OnePlus 5 had been unveiled with an online event.

But what do we know about the next family of top of the OnePlus range? First of all, no, they will not resemble the Concept One that had captivated the press and public attention at the CES2020 with its electrochromic glass capable of darkening and making the rear camera disappear. The front camera will be housed in a hole in the screen: no more pop-ups. Both the basic and the Pro models will then mount a triple rear cam and a Snapdragon 865 SoC (and perhaps we can already compare its performance, since it seems they have sprung up on Geekbench).

For more detailed information, please refer to our dedicated article, where we enter the specifics of the two main models (for the economic one, information is still scarce, especially regarding the technical data sheet, while perhaps we have already glimpsed its appearance).
