Samsung Galaxy Book Flex

On the occasion of the CES 2020, as you may already know, Samsung presented its first ultrabooks with QLED displays, among which the 13-inch Galaxy Book Flex α (alpha) model with the latest generation Intel Core processor stands out. It will be launched on the market in the first half of 2020 at the price of 829.99 dollars and we will hardly see it in Italy, but you can have a little taste of it in our video test from Las Vegas. An excellent opportunity to find out more about technical specifications and designs.

Samsung Galaxy Book Flex α

Samsung Galaxy Book Flex α (like the Galaxy Book Ion) is equipped with a 13.3-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) touch QLED panel, with support for the S Pen (not supplied as standard) and foldable up to 360 ° on the keyboard surface to use the device in multiple modes: notebook, tablet, tent and stand. The Quantum Dot LED (QLED) screen – also common to the Galaxy Book Ion model – is much brighter (up to 600 cd / m2 outdoors and 400cd / m2 indoors) and offers a wider color range (up to 1 billion) and ultra-thin edges, but not as black as deep as in the AMOLED displays although better than the typical LED displays.

This ultrabook is based on a 10th gen Intel Core processor, Ice Lake or Comet Lake depending on the configurations, with integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics subsystem, 8 / 12GB of DDR4 RAM and 256/512 GB PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD or 1TB, further expandable with a microSD card slot.

On board the Samsung Galaxy Book Flex α (alpha), we also find two 1.5W speakers, an HD webcam (720p) with two microphones with noise canceling system, a backlit chiclet keyboard and a blue fingerprint reader for secure access to the system via Windows Hello. Turning to connectivity, the convertible is equipped with 802.11ax WiFi modules (2×2, WiFi 6) and Bluetooth 5.0, an HDMI port, a 3.5 mm audio jack, two USB 3.0 ports and a full featured USB 3.1 Type-C.

Its aluminum frame in Royal Silver color with satin finish measures 304.9 x 202 x 13.9 mm and weighs 1.19Kg, but has been completely renewed compared to the previous generation, with sharp corners and tighter lines. Inside there is a 54Wh battery that should ensure over 17 hours of autonomy and fast charging (from 0 to 100% in 90 minutes). The operating system is obviously Windows 10
