The first details on TCL’s EP68 TVs emerged thanks to French sources (remember that France is the most important European country for the Chinese brand). The proposed cuts are three: 50 “, 55” and 65 “. The panels are Ultra HD LCD with Direct LED backlighting and global dimming (therefore without local dimming). The native update frequency is set at 50 Hz. images is entrusted to the IPQ Engine with Picture Performance Index 1700 Hz.
Micro Dimming is also present, a software development that optimizes the contrast ratio by acting on light and dark. The brightness peak is around 380 cd / m2 – nits on 50 “, 300 cd / m2 – nits on 55” and 320 cd / m2 – nits on 65 “. Supported HDR formats include everything possible, as announced from TCL to the IFA Global Press Conference. EP68 can therefore show the high dynamic range in HDR10, HLG and in formats with dynamic HDR10 + and Dolby Vision metadata.
The “smart TV” platform consists of Android TV 9.0 (Pie) with integrated Chromecast and the possibility of using Google Assistant through a Google Home speaker. All operations are managed by an unidentified quad-core processor combined with 16 GB of expandable memory via USB. Obviously there is no lack of support for applications like Netflix and YouTube with Ultra HD and HDR.
Connectivity includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, three HDMI 2.0b inputs with HDCP 2.2, two USB ports, an Ethernet port and a Common Interface + slot. DVB-T2 and DVB-S2 tuners are available for television reception. Complete the audio section with two speakers of 8 W each. The EP68 series will be available in Europe starting in August. List prices for the Italian market are not yet known
