Vivo Y3

Presented at the beginning of May for the Chinese market, Vivo Y3 was already available in stores in Shanghai when we visited the city at the CES Asia 2019. Among the many smartphones on display, we chose this model because – although belonging to the mid-range – offers technical features worthy of a top-of-range terminal but obviously at a lower price (less than 200 euros per exchange). Vivo does not distribute its smartphones in our area, although some rumors seem to confirm the hypothesis that the Chinese company wants to expand on some western markets, but you can take a preview of Vivo Y3 in our Italian video test.

Vivo Y3

Vivo Y3 could be the Vivo Y17, launched a few weeks ago in India, given that they share the design and most of the hardware card. The front is almost entirely occupied by the Halo FullView IPS 6.35 inch HD + display (1544 x 720 pixels) with aspect ratio of 19.3: 9 and frames so thin that they reach a screen-to-body ratio of 89%, while on the back a beautiful glass cover with hypnotic reflections in Peacock Blue, Peach Pink and Ink Blue stands out. The dimensions are considerably reduced, given that despite the wide diagonal Vivo Y3 measures 159.43 × 76.77 × 8.92 mm and weighs just over 190 grams.

As you probably have already noticed, the smartphone has a small central notch in which the 16MP front camera is hidden and a triple camera on the back composed of a 13MP main sensor (f / 2.2) plus a 2MP secondary sensor and a 8MP wide-angle sensor and 120 ° (f / 2.2), obviously with LED Flash. Unlike other premium solutions, Vivo Y3 incorporates a fingerprint reader on the back.

The hardware platform is based on a 2.3GHz MediaTek Helio P35 (MT6765) octa-core processor with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of ROM expandable with a microSD card slot. Very interesting is the presence of a 5000 mAh battery – in other epochs we would have considered it a battery-phone – with fast dual-motor 18W charging, dual-band 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G-LTE and GPS / GLONASS. Vivo Y3 runs on Funtouch OS 9 based on Android 9.0 Pie
