Last October, Xiaomi funded a new smartwatch on YouPin (translation: “products”), a real crowdfunding platform managed by the Chinese company, in which hi-tech companies and startups can participate to propose their ideas. The financing system is very different from that of Indiegogo or Kickstarter, because in this case the products are not evaluated by the community but by a technical team of Xiaomi, who decides to bet on a project (or not) only if deemed valid.
And evidently Xiaomi saw potential in Haylou LS01, a smartwatch that possesses the features / functionality of higher-end models (heart rate monitor, 14-day battery life, physical activity monitoring and sleep quality) but at a very affordable price. The watch is already on sale in the main Chinese online shops: on TomTop, for example, you can buy it in black or silver for only € 24.99, with free shipping in Italy. Here the link to buy.
Xiaomi Haylou LS01 features a 1.3-inch square-shaped TFT LCD display (240 x 240 pixels) and a replaceable 26.3 mm silicone strap, which can also be purchased separately in another color. We have no information on the hardware platform, but we know that thanks to Bluetooth 4.2 it can be associated with smartphones / tablets with Android (from release 4.4 and later) and iOS (from 8.0 and later) operating system.
It weighs only 34 grams and has dimensions of 40.9 x 35.7 x 11.6 mm, despite integrating a 210 mAh battery, which should offer up to 14 days of autonomy with moderate use. Thanks to the IP68 certification, it is resistant to dust and water (dives up to 50 meters for 30 minutes) and is capable of monitoring the heart rate with the integrated heart rate monitor.
It supports and recognizes nine different sport modes including outdoor running, walking, treadmill, cycling, swimming, fitness, mountaineering, yoga and spinning. Of course, it also counts the calories and steps taken. Finally, it monitors sleep quality and supports smart notifications, to have weather information, call notifications, SMS and updates from different apps directly on your wrist.
