The new Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 + Gen 1 and Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 platforms offer longer battery life, a high-end user experience and a sleek, innovative design to the ever-growing and segmented wearable industry.
Two years after the launch of Snapdragon Wear 4100 and 4100+, which are now starting to show signs of age, Qualcomm presents the new suite of premium platforms for wearables, Snapdragon W5 + Gen 1 and Snapdragon W5 Gen 1. These solutions are have been designed to deliver groundbreaking, ultra-low-power performance for next-generation connected wearables, with a focus on extending battery life, high-end user experience, and sleek, innovative design. Using these platforms, manufacturers can scale, differentiate and develop products faster in the ever-growing and segmented wearable industry.

Based on a hybrid architecture, the platform consists of a 4nm system-on-chip and a highly integrated 22nm co-processor. Interestingly, the new Snapdragon W5 + chip still has four ARM Cortex-A53 cores, just like Snapdragon Wear 4100+, but almost everything else has been updated. The GPU is now a 1 GHz Adreno A702, a step up from the previous generation 320 MHz Adreno A504 GPU, and the Core M co-processor has been revamped with a 250 MHz Cortex-M55 (instead of the Cortex- M0 at 50 MHz). And there’s a new Ethos-U55 machine learning co-processor.
